In the behind-the-scenes look at our CG process for a recent project, we showcased the journey from real-world photography to the integration of CGI elements, providing a glimpse into the intricate work that goes into blending reality with digital artistry.

We started by capturing high-quality live-action footage or photography on set. This included everything from detailed shots of the environment and actors to key lighting setups, which were essential for ensuring the CGI would blend seamlessly with the real-world elements. In this stage, we also captured reference data such as camera angles, lighting conditions, and environmental textures, which later helped in matching the CGI with the real footage.

Once the real-world footage was ready, we moved to the CG phase. Here, our team of 3D artists began modeling the CGI objects or characters that needed to be inserted into the scene. Whether it was a character, a car, or an entire digital environment, we used software to create high-detail models, paying close attention to texture, lighting, and shading so that the CGI elements looked as real as possible.

After modeling, we moved to the animation and rendering stage, where the CGI elements were brought to life. In this phase, we worked to ensure that every movement and interaction between the real footage and CGI felt natural and convincing. Our lighting team replicated the exact lighting conditions from the real shoot, adding shadows, reflections, and highlights to match the live-action footage perfectly.

Finally, we reached the compositing stage, where the real footage and CGI layers were combined. Using compositing software, we layered the digital assets over the real-world shots, adjusting the color balance, lighting, and depth to achieve a seamless blend. Special attention was given to small details, like the interaction between CGI objects and their real-world counterparts—ensuring realistic shadows, reflections, and visual effects.
